Anybody here whose phone has been pickpocketed?
Two of my husband's phones were pickpocketed and I have experienced once when I went shopping and placed it inside my backpack. It really gave me a lesson afterwards to be more careful of my phone and other precious possessions.
Have you also had similar experience?

Fortunately, no.
I typically keep my phone in my front pocket. I also keep my wallet (a traditional men's wallet) in my front pocket. In my estimation, it would be harder to slip something from in front of me than from behind me.

Very interesting. I do the same thing. I never carry anything in my back pocket. I think I learned from my father at a young age not to keep my wallet in my back pocket. With it in the front, my hand is usually nearby, and simply harder to sneak it from me undetected. Not to mention sitting on a wallet can do horrible things to your back.

Not to insult your husband, but how did he have this happen two seperate times? Where does he keep the phone? What kind of phones? How does anyone even know he has a phone to take?

Re: Anybody here whose phone has been pickpocketed?
never..but i'd rather have my phone pickpocketed than have a gun pointed at me...my brother experienced that once when he was riding a public vehicle..actually, he's been in two hold-up occasions, one done in the morning, another in the late afternoon...i thnk for the 2nd one, the holduppers had daggers with them or something...luckily he was at the far end of the vehicle--near the driver...

Re: Anybody here whose phone has been pickpocketed?
My sister had her phone stolen. They rang up all her female friends that were listed on the phone, and everybody got worried about her. It's a bit of a worry that somebody can steal your phone and then have your number and your name. Something to be careful about. Just because someone rings you with your friend's phone number doesn't necessarily mean they are friends of your friend, if you know what I mean.

i know what you mean. my former officemate got his cellphone stolen and a few days after, some of his friends received a text message asking for some cellphone load...it turned out the thief pretended to be him and asking for some load....some of his friends actually fell for it ....too bad...

Re: Anybody here whose phone has been pickpocketed?
My poor husband had his phone stolen. He's a public school teacher and ONE time he leaves his phone on his desk charging while he stepped out into the hall. He was gone maybe a whole minute, but by then his phone was gone as well. It crushed him. The kids in his class were ones he had known and worked with for a couple of years.
Anyway, we now keep insurance on his phone and he doesn't trust his kids anymore - even for a second.

ohhh..that is just awful! it really hurts so much when you know somebody you trust could have done something like this to you. i lost my phone once in college and i had strong evidence that it was my seatmate who did it. i actually filed a case against her along with other students whose phones got stolen at other occasions. we had a pretty strong case but we all ended up disappointed that she still graduated despite everything. it just gives me consolation that there's the possibility of karma.

Sorry to say, yes I am one among those luckless fellows who's mobile have been pickpocketed. There must be some system of tracking the theft sets. I think the service operator should help in this regard. Though in my case they did nothing other than suggesting me to lodge a police complaint.

I've never been pickpocketed, but I have friends that had their phone number hijacked and got huge bills for international calls. Does that happen still? This was a long time ago.

Oh yeah - hijacking is still a business. And the bad guys continue to get creative.
As for having your phone stolen - did you know that some home owners insurance will cover your electronics even when you are carrying them outside the home?

I am so fortunate to have never had my phone stolen, but it helps that I keep it in hand so much, they'll have to pull it out of my grip when I'm dead! haha

Re: Anybody here whose phone has been pickpocketed?
I've considered buying a little carrying case to wear on my pants but I keep feeling like it might be in the way too much while I am working, which involves stocking heavy items at a store.
