Cell Phone Etiquette
One thing that really annoys me about cell phones is the lack of manners that seems to come when people get a hold of them. The thing that bugs me the most is having lunch or something with someone, their phone rings, and they spend 15 minutes talking to another person. Most of the time they don't even say "excuse me" or anything, they just answer the phone. Also, people have lengthy conversations on public transport and you get to hear all about their Aunt Jean or something.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
hahaha, yeah, i find it offending when they answer their phone in the middle of something without excusing themselves...what's worse are those who don't turn their cell phones in silent mode when they attend a seminar or a holy service...tsk...tsk...

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
I hate it when my friends pull out their phone and start clicking away at me without asking! I feel like they should at least let me smile

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
See, that goes way beyond phone etiquette into what I like to think of as invasion of privacy - I HATE having my picture taken and all these portable cameras in everyone's pocket has made it harder for me to dodge the whole photo opportunity.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
I really wish that more people used respect and common sense with a cell phone. I was waiting for a storage shed this weekend had been in line for ages when the man being helped at the counter received a phone call. He sat on the phone for 10 minutes holding everyone up for his call. I've had this happen more than once and find it highly frustrating...as though the whole world should be on hold for their conversation.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
I honestly don't think it's as much a lack of cell phone manners as it is a general lack of manners. The cell just makes it much more in your face.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
When we say cellphone etiquette, it depends upon the situation, the place, and it depends on the person who handles it, we know whats right and wrong.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
I don't always mind someone talking on a phone while I'm with them as long as it's short and to the point. I'm mostly annoyed by loud talkers (if you talk in a normal voice or whisper, it still picks up) and stupid ringtones that people will let play like we care.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
Today at my job, I heard a much older woman just yelling away on her phone...she stood in a corner away from everyone but it's not a very big store so everyone was just puzzled. Perhaps elderly people have not gotten the idea haha...

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
It's on the train that the loud talkers bother me. Like they have to be bigshots ...and most of the time, it isn't even business, just b.s.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
It's so embarrassing...I wish they could hear themselves. They don't know that you can talk in a library voice on a cellphone unless your own environment is loud.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
I think some of it is just the physical way cell phones are built. They're not great designs for actually talking on anyway. What is needed is some real revolutionary design.

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
Yeah, like a big giant helmet that drowns out all the yelling so we can walk around in peace without someone screaming in our ears

Re: Cell Phone Etiquette
How about with the new cell phone laws in effect, you still see cops driving holding their phones to their ears. No fair! But thats just the perks of being a cop right, getting to run the red lights with your sirens from time to time! :-p
