This looks like exciting stuff. But I wonder how it will effect battery life. One of the great things about the iBooks and PowerBooks were the 6 hour battery running time.

Also compatibility is going to be a BIG issue.

I think would wait a few generations before I take this one up.

From what i understand the life of the battery will be alsmot the same as old Mac's. I cant understand that they would make them worse.

You are buying a dual processor. 90% of the time the other processor will be on idle, eating your battery power. If they take advantage of it for doing other housekeeping, it will usher in a new era of portable computing.

Imagine you walking around with a computer and it was also a access point/portable fileserver. We wont know until it is sold of course. I also see that new headaches with those plagued with viruses.

I've never had a Mac but I am interested in the new Intel ones, the only thing I'm put off by is the compatibility issues.

How compatible are Macs with microsoft powerpoint, excel etc and other programs?

Same, I've never bought a mac before but I hear they are getting much popular. They look much nicer than windows. Apple is now such a big company with there
Ipods I think it's getting much 'cooler' to have a apple PC.

Yeah, I prefer the look of both operating system and the laptops themselves, I saw one recently which is what sparked my interest.

I don't know, I'm too used to Windows to be able to switch easily between the two (hardly anyone has a mac) and they don't seem as compatible...

I do like how they are advertising the new chips though...probably winds Microsoft up quite a lot!

What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac? A whole lot more than it's ever done in a PC.

I know a couple of people in my sixth form who have macs and from what they say they're really good, I don't know what problems they have in terms of compatibility though.

I'm really interested in film editing and from what I have heard and read they are excellent for multimedia but unfortunately not as good for games.

I am quite interested in the new mac book pro though!!

I have never liked macs before, but im actaully thinking about getting this one just so I can use it with Final Cut Pro. Other than that, I dont see any use for macs.

I have checked out the worlds thinnest creation by none other than Apple and that is MacBook Air. And believe me I am madly in love with that gadget. Awesome twosome creation by Apple
