Default Cooling plate

Has anyone tried aone of these cooling plates that you attach to your laptop with a usb cable? It has fans on the bottom and cools the computer while you use it. I actually like it pretty well so far, except it makes the portability a little more complicated. I just wonder if it will extend the life of the laptop like they say it will.

I thought about getting one to improve the performance of my computer but wasn't sure if it would help much. Let us know!

Well, so far it does seem to speed up the performance a bit, but it runs the battery down much quicker and makes the portability a lot more awkward. SO I suppose it is a toss up.

How big are they and what do they weigh? Seems like quite an additional bit of hassle.

It is the size of the laptop. As far as the dimensions of the bottom. Mine is quite lightweight. Maybe a few ounces. It doesnt add much bulk to the laptop itself, but it does make it a bit awkward to pick up and move around because you have to make sure you have grabbed it all.

I think I'll pass then ...I still use a desktop for serious work and the laptop is used when traveling or when I want to just lounge around.

I used to use the desktop more often, but now with the baby, it seems like the portability is a big factor as to whether I get anything done on the computer or not.
