new to smartphones

I want to get smartphone, but have no idea what is the best one to get?
I have a ipaq but it is not a phone and I want something very similar to what my pocket pc can do, but don't know if anyone makes this.

anyone have a phone that is a pocket pc? is it worth the money and is it comfortable to use?

I have yet to be convinced on these things too...haven't heard enough on them to know why I should be spending so much...actually I couldn't really tell you anything about them!

I have just seen them, and think they look bulky for a phone. But hey! I have been wrong before and hope someone here will shed some light on the subject for me.

By the way, what is an Ipaq? Now that is something I have never heard anything about...and if it is not a phone, it must be some sort of music player or organizer? *taking wild guesses*

I've seen a good review on the HTC TyTN II, looks more like a mini laptop, although it's Windows Mobile if that's what you're after. Not really sure about smartphones myself
